Middle-aged Man’s Smucker’s Covered Calls Update 7/17/24

Continuing with my covered call game, today I sold 4 call contracts against my SJM position for $1.40 with a $125 strike price and an 8/16/24 expiration. Accordingly, I immediately collected a $560 premium. SJM goes ex-dividend on 8/15, so the question is, will I keep my shares through the ex-dividend date and thus become entitled to the $1.08 dividend payment (payable 9/3) or will my shares be called away? Time will tell.

Running totals on cash generated: $644, from 3/17 calls; $1,280 from 4/19 calls; $240 from 5/17 calls; $424 from 6/3 dividend; and $560 from 8/16 calls. That’s $3,148 total since the game began on 3/6.
