I’ve been an adherent of minimalism for over a decade now. Throughout my minimalism journey, I have endeavored to be intentional in my acquisition of stuff. Also, I have removed stuff from my life–sold it, given it away, recycled it or trashed it. I amplified the removal process when we sold our home two years ago–there were a lot of items that weren’t worth moving. In the next house, we shed more items in preparation for the next move, which was a year later.
Within a year, we will be moving, again. Accordingly, I’m removing items that survived previous purges. We donate goods on a regular basis to Goodwill. I also have items for sale on eBay and Craigslist. Items that don’t sell, we’ll donate. Our aspiration is to move to our new home with only two carloads of possessions.
Our next home will be a modest apartment, the smallest home we will have lived in since we were newlyweds more than twenty years ago! Ironically, our next home also will be the most expensive home we will have lived in! As realtors say, it’s all about location, location, location. I would add to that: lifestyle, lifestyle, lifestyle! I’m stoked!
